MOI Watch (Representative Kim Han-mo) designed the dial from 2014 with traditional inlaid technique for lacquerware. Watches from MOI Watch in Baselworld were sold in full light with lacquered mother-of-pearl light and colors, followed by additional orders from the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Russia, China and the US.
This year, we are preparing for the ‘Chunhwa’ line, which depicts Chunhwa in the Joseon Dynasty with lacquer following the existing ‘Lacquerware Lacquer’ line. Kim Han-mo, who played garments in Baselworld, got a positive response by listening to many watchmakers and buyers as “shocking.”
◇ Switzerland’s cross-over watch, regular rush order rush orders
Kim Han-mo, together with Ivan Arpa, representative of the Swiss watch company ArtyA, made a watch on his own and presented it to Baselworld in 2017. Ivan Arpa is a world-renowned watch designer. He is also famous for participating in the Samsung Smart Watch Gear S3 design in Korea.
The Chunghwa clock went directly to Kim Dae – jung, not to participate in Baselworld through Artia. In the series of Korean traditional crafts, Kim is willing to lead directly. However, even though it was not an exhibit, Chunghwa clock received price and order inquiries throughout the fair.
Mr. Kim completed lacquer by hand by hand of the dial. The character ‘s lines and hair are superimposed as if they are piled up with lacquer. Kim said, “It seems that the erotic clock genre known as Blanpang is using Korean materials and techniques freshly.”
◇ Add Korean beauty to the dial bands with Korean engraved wheel
The gear wheel on the back of the Chunghwa clock carved ‘Love’ and ‘Energetic’ in Korean. The alligator leather strap is a rubber strap of the famous watch parts sign (Bergeon), which is sanitary because it can be easily cleaned even when sweating during heavy workout. Glasses on the front and back of the watch are scratch resistant and made of sapphire glass. The price and the full release date are undecided.
◇ mother-of-pearl, gold-plated painting … lacquer, domestic watch may be competitive
MOI watches will be exhibited at Baselworld next year with a luncheon-colored Chunghwa watch. “In Switzerland, where lacquer trees do not grow, lacquer watches can be a competitive advantage for our country,” Kim said. “We plan to create a new line by drawing palaces and maps of Mondays.”
Currently, Kim is making watch dials with gold leaf with Artia. It is a lacquered dial after the gold with the gold leaf expert. It is characterized by a soft and elegant light with the original color of pure gold.
On the other hand, Mr. Kim learned the technique of making mother-of-pearl to intangible cultural assets owner to learn lacquer and inlay technique.
