HANARTS ROHS - Samsung Electronics, Winia Mando
A milestone in Korean mother-of-pearl design meeting global environmental standards.
What is ROHS?
ROHS stands for Restriction of Hazardous Substances, a directive established by the European Union in 2006. It limits the use of hazardous materials such as lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), cadmium (Cd), hexavalent chromium (Cr⁶⁺), and flame retardants like PBB/PBDE in electronics and electrical components.
Products with ROHS certification are proven to be environmentally safe and human-friendly, especially crucial for materials used in appliances, home electronics, and consumer-facing surfaces.
Why Is ROHS Important?
- Meets international safety standards for exports to Europe, North America, and Asia
- Ensures material quality and environmental responsibility
- Required by major corporations like Samsung Electronics for supplier approval
- Increases consumer trust and product competitiveness
HANARTS and ROHS Certification
In 2007, HANARTS began supplying mother-of-pearl decorative designs for Samsung Electronics' home appliances — including air conditioners and kimchi refrigerators. To meet Samsung’s supplier requirements, HANARTS obtained official ROHS certification in March 2007.
This certification marked a turning point: proving that traditional Korean craftsmanship could meet rigorous global technical standards. It allowed HANARTS to transform mother-of-pearl from a handcrafted material into a scalable, industrial-grade design surface.
From Craft to Industry
By earning ROHS approval, HANARTS:
- Expanded mother-of-pearl into mass production and industrial design
- Proved its products were safe, sustainable, and export-ready
- Collaborated with leading global manufacturers
A Legacy of Innovation
The 2007 ROHS certification stands as a symbol of HANARTS’ commitment to innovation, sustainability, and global design leadership. From the intricate beauty of Korean shell inlay to the strictest environmental standards, HANARTS continues to blend tradition with technology.
Tradition meets tomorrow — with elegance and responsibility.
